Dear parents and caregivers,
My name is Vicki Promenzio. I am the founder and facilitator of Growing Impressions. I have been an educator for over twenty years, teaching diverse subjects, to various age groups, in numerous locations. I have also been a learner all my life.
After studying three disciplines in college, I thought I knew a lot about many things. But when my first daughter was born (and then my second) I realizd how much more I needed to learn. As a first time parent, I felt under a lot of pressure to be "the perfect mother". Parenting publications bombarded me with advice, checklists, shopping lists of required baby gear, etc. I felt pulled in all directions! As a stay-at-home mom, I also felt very lonely.
Looking to meet other parents and make some friends, Brianna and I joined a Montessori Parent-Child class. Not only did I meet other moms who shared my same concerns, I also found a place where Brianna could play safely and develop amazing skills (like drinking from a glass open cup at 9 months), and where I could just relax and watch her.
As Brianna explored the carefully prepared environment, examining and manipulating treasures, I developed my observation skills. I soon understood that my daughter, herself, held the answers to all my first-time-mom questions, and I could find those answers by contemplating her.
After being part of the Parent-Infant community for over three years (when Brianna graduated, Kiara came along), watching, in amazement, as little babies blossomed into capable and independent children, as well as participating actively in the parent education weekly sessions, I decided I wanted to spread the joy to other families by becoming a Montessorian myself, so I became a Montessori Certified Infant-Toddler Teacher.
After having developed and directed Infant and Toddler programs, as well as Parent-Infant Communities and parent education programs in several Montessori schools, I want to build my own Montessori community, bringing families together and supporting their parenting, while providing a nurturing environment for their children.
For this reason, I created Growing Impressions, hoping that many families will find in my homey environment a place to relax and enjoy their children, while connecting with other families and being able to discuss those parenting concerns they may have.
I look forward to meeting you and your children!
Kind regards,
Vicki Promenzio
